The new 2020 Z900 will feature riding modes (combining KTRC and Power modes), a new TFT dash, Bluetooth smartphone connectivity, LED lighting and more polar bear friendly emissions. And has received “the next step in aggressive Z Sugomi styling”.
It will be available in two versions: Full power machine rated at 124hp (92.2 kW), and an A2 specification model with 94hp (70kW) available. Kawasaki has listened and improved the engine note of each model by the fitment of an exhaust pre-chamber – boosting tonality at idle, and when snapping the throttle.
To help control the throttle Kawasaki has added traction control and the ability to select from four different rider modes and two power modes.
The cockpit area has received a 10.9cm TFT screen which displays all the essential info, plus Bluetooth connection via the Kawasaki Rideology App. So, no more complaining about Kawasaki’s dashes now...
The Bluetooth functionality allows the display of remaining fuel, distance covered, maintenance schedule, and if a telephone call or email has been received. Cool aye?
The Z900 also gets new treads, in the form of some Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2. And is equipped with a full LED light suite - including head and tail lamp, licence plate light and indicators.
Both versions of the Z900 (full power and A2) will be available in the same new colour options in 2020:
Metallic graphite grey
Metallic spark black plus candy lime green
Metallic spark black and pearl blizzard white
Metallic spark black
Metallic spark black/metallic flat spark black.
To round up then, the new Z900 still fits with the ‘refined raw’ ethos, but with some electronic gizmos we riders seem to go crazy for on a modern motorcycle. Kind of like a more refined raw?
