PARKING your motorcycle on the street in many areas of the UK can be a stressful affair, especially if, like this rider, you’ve not used any form of extra security on the machine.
This video shared on a local Facebook group, goes a long way to show just how important even lightweight security is when parking your bike on the street.
The video shows a group of thieves who spot a motorcycle parked between two cars and begin to scope out the scene. Before long, one of the thieves walks around the bike to take hold of the bars while one sits ahead of the front wheel. With both of them pushing hard on the front end of the BMW, the steering lock stood little chance and before you can say ‘thieving scrotes’ the steering lock is broken and the bike is pushed away, probably to be dumped in a bush for collection later.
What is shocking about the video is not just how brazen the thieves are, it’s broad daylight and at least one car does drive past, but how quickly they get away with the bike. It goes a long way to proving how important it is to use even a disclock as a minimum form of security, especially when parking on the street. These thieves aren’t hardened bike thieves stealing to order, they are opportunists looking for a bike they can ride until it's empty of fuel and they torch on some wasteground. They don’t appear to be tooled-up, and because of this, even the cheapest £30 disclock could have prevented this rider from losing their bike.
