ALTHOUGH it has yet to be officially presented by the manufacturer, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 Scram has appeared in dealers for the first time in India.
Royal Enfield has yet to officially reveal the Himalayan 411 Scram, and yet it has been made public by its appearance in two different colours - black and white - in Indian dealers. The photos also reveal the wide bars; round headlamp; curved, stepped seat; indented fuel tank and spoked wheels, with a 19-inch front instead of the 21-inch found on the standard Himalayan. Overall, it bears a significant resemblance to the adventurer from which it is derived.
The 411 Scram will also bear non-aesthetic similarities to the standard Himalayan, as it will use the “same engine, chassis, suspension and brakes” as the regular bike, according to the French website Moto Station. The technical details of that standard 2021 Himalayan can be found in our rundown of the specifications here, but the standouts are of course the 411cc, four-stroke, air-cooled engine; wet multi-plate clutch; five-speed constant mesh gearbox; electric starter; switchable dual-channel ABS; a 300mm front disc, 240mm rear; and a 15-litre fuel tank.
That means we can expect around 24 horsepower and 32 Nm of torque from the 411 Scram, which overall has a look more befitting a bike for the road or city than the standard Himalayan, despite the retention of dual-purpose rubber.
Although the 411 Scram has been sighted only in the dealers of Royal Enfield’s native India, Moto Station report that the bike will likely be showing up in European markets in 2023.
