LAGUNA SECA is set to host the inaugural Classic MotoFest in July, with the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) planning to host a racing and action-packed weekend there for the next 3 years.
This historic motorcycle race will take place after the King of the Baggers V-Twin Invitational, which is hosted at the circuit the weekend before - during the GEICO Motorcycle MotoAmerica Superbike Speedfest (they should try and shorten that down a little bit…).
Laguna Seca raceway spokesman Barry Toepke has said that due to the “growing popularity of vintage motorcycles” and that the AHRMA has rented the track before, has created the opportunity to “celebrate the sport and hobby by creating a larger festival experience and developing a Bike Week (…)” that would follow that MotoAmerica Speedfest.
Acting as the largest historic racing group in the States, with over 3000 members, the AHRMA doesn’t just stick to historic track races. They also have other events running throughout the year at national circuits, with off-road racing, motocross, trials and for the first time, classic drag-racing & electric motorcycle races.
Further information of the planned event is limited at this stage, but the accompanying event a month prior in Topeka, Kansas, seems to be as action-packed as it gets with constant action.
If I were local to the Californian circuit, I’d be there in a heartbeat. It looks like a top weekend is forming in July, and hopefully, by then there won’t be a limit to spectators and attendance numbers! If you happen to be attending the event, let us know how it goes on social media!
