THE CFMOTO CX-2E and CX-5E have been designed to inspire and nurture the next generation of dirt bike riders, and they feature many of the features found in much larger, much more expensive adult electric off-road machines.
The CX-2E is an entry-level machine and is aimed at youngsters between the ages of four and seven years old. Its maximum power output is 1,200W and it features 10-inch wheels and has a price tag of $2,190 AUD (£1,100).
The CX-5E is a slightly larger bike suitable for riders aged between the ages of eight and twelve years old. This bike sits on a 14-inch front and 12-inch rear wheel, and this bike has a list price of $2,490 AUD (£1,275).
Both machines feature a steel cradle frame, alloy wheel rims, hydraulic disc brakes, and removable battery packs. Power comes from a 48V 1.2kW motor in the CX-2E and a 1.5kW item in the CX-5E. The motor in both bikes is powered by a 48V24Ah 1152Wh Lithium-ion Battery, and while the bikes may be diminutive, the range is actually fairly impressive, with CFMOTO claiming a maximum range to empty of 60km or 37 miles. That’s a hell of a lot of back garden laps chasing those tenths, and nailing the holeshot.
As you can probably tell from the pricing of the bikes, the press release is coming from Australia, which is one of the markets confirmed to be getting the two machines. Sending a bike of this type down under does make total sense, being as dirt bikes are extremely popular Down Under. We just hope that CFMOTO can see the light and send a couple of containers over to Europe for us… I mean our kids to enjoy.
More information on the two bikes can be found on the CFMOTO Australia website.
