The Husqvarna Norden 901 is the Swedish brand’s flagship model, and for 2024, it’s received a number of updates including the colours and electronics.
There’s no doubt that Husqvarna’s position within the Pierer Mobility Group structure is as the ‘retro’ brand. KTM has the over-aggressive styling and 180bhp 1290 series, while GasGas has a more enthusiastic, youthful approach to motorcycling. Husqvarna, on the other hand, has a more reserved, sensible image.
Its sensibleness is perhaps highlighted by the Norden 901, a softer-looking adaptation of the KTM 890 Adventure that this year sports a number of significant updates.
You won’t find a new motor, a revolutionary new traction control system, or a debut for new suspension tech from WP with the ‘24 Norden 901, but the changes underneath the surface are hinted at by the new grey and yellow colour scheme.
Ordinarily, a change of exhaust design for a new model year would indicate an increase of 2.5bhp over the previous year, and a saving of 0.55kg in the overall weight of the bike. For the new Norden, though, it means Euro5+ compliance, which helps to guarantee the 2024 version’s longevity over its predecessors.
The new hazard warning lights that come with the 2024 bike help to boost rider safety in the event of an emergency, and the traction control now features the option of an ‘Explorer Mode’, which gives access to 10 different levels of rear wheel slip.
Traction control is also present when stopping, of course, with Bosch providing Cornering ABS, while Pirelli’s Scorpion Rally STR tyres are equipped at both ends. Other features include a Power Assist Slipper Clutch (PASC), four ride modes, ride-by-wire throttle, and a two-way quickshifter.
The 2024 Husqvarna Norden 901 will be available from February 2024. UK pricing information is set to be announced in the coming weeks.
